Read the lesson from “One day a partially deaf four-year-old kid came home…” to “…a weak desire cannot produce great results.” in your textbook.

Read each cause carefully. Explain the effect and also write what lesson we learn from it briefly. The first one has been done for you.

1. Cause: Edison was called “too stupid to learn” and had only three months of schooling.
Effect: He was taught by his mother and later became a great inventor.
Lesson: Encouragement and belief can overcome criticism.
2. Cause: Edison lost his factory in a fire at the age of 67.
Effect: He saw the fire as a chance to start again and rebuilt his factory.
