Q. No. (1-4) Read the following passage

            Bayaji was a Mahar by caste and according to age-old custom he should have greeted Bhujaba with 'My humble salutations to you, sir, who are my father and mother.' So, when Bayaji merely said 'Greetings.' Bhujaba became furious and said, 'Do you think you can become a Brahmin merely by saying "Greetings"? Can you forget your position simply because you've turned a Buddhist?'

                     Bayaji was nonplussed. For a moment, he was tempted to knock him down with his box but realised that he couldn't afford to do so. Besides, now he had come back to his village for good. He was to spend the rest of his days on this soil and would be interred in the same soil. He would not be able to return to Pune or Bombay hereafter. It was not a good policy to incur the hostility of anyone in the village, least so of the Patil, the village headman.          (The Storeyed House-1)

And then the upper storey itself came down with a crash and along with it Bayaji, with a resounding thud. People pulled him out.

Bayaji was burnt all over. He was still wailing, ‘My house’, ‘my house’! Bayaji's children encircled him and cried their hearts out.

The guests were busy putting out the fire. All Bayaji's hopes had been reduced to ashes. What was the use of putting out the fire now?

Bayaji was badly burnt and he was in great agony. He asked for water all the time. As his eyes began to roll in his head, his eldest son moved closer, gulped down the sorrow that was surging in his throat and asked, 'Nana, what's your last wish?'                              (The Storeyed House-2)

               i) Tanya was indicating.  It was too much that their mother had to back off. Tears threatened to roll down as Kanchan looked outside the window. ii) “Are you worried about the money?” her husband asked Kanchan. iii) They both sipped their morning tea in the veranda. Kanchan was not worried about the money. iv) She was confused by what Tanya wanted. She was also confused by her own emotions. (v) She was confused. The emotions made her so. vi) Emotion adds colour to life. Emotion adds spice to life.

i) Rewrite the sentence using ‘that’

ii) Rewrite the sentence beginning it with: Her husband asked

iii) Add a suitable question tag.

iv) Combine the two sentences and rewrite as a single sentence using ‘and’

Q. No. 14. You have read the story ‘The Storeyed House’. Bhayyaji was died and his new storeyed house had burnt to ashes.  Now write a possible interview with Bhayyaji’s family members. You could write how it happened, who is the culprit, when it had happened etc.             10M

           Maintaining good health is the richest evidence for long life. It is said that people are spending more of their earnings on health problems as their laziness and ill health habits. Now write an essay on the good and bad habits of good and healthy people giving a complete picture on reasons, results and remedies.

Q. No. 15. You have read the poem ‘Abandoned’ where there may be many reasons for abandoning babies. Illiteracy, illegitimate birth, girlchild, crippled child and many more reasons for abandoning babies. Now imagine that you were the Secretary to the Government of Telangana and you wanted to eradicate the issue from the state. Now prepare a Message to bring awareness among the people on abandoning babies. Your message should focus on educating on child abandoning. Q. No. (17-21). Read the following passage carefully. 

Rights and duties are two sides of the same coin. One can’t exist without the other. Duties without rights are mere slavery. Similarly, rights without duties amount to be lawlessness in any civilized society. Rights and duties must go side by side.

But in today’s world, everybody talks much about his rights. There is a great hue and cry if our rights are infringed. But nobody seems to bother much about his duties. That is why there is a great unrest in our present-day life. Actually, duties come first, and rights afterwards. Many a time, one man’s right is another man’s duty and vice versa for example every man has the right to have an undisturbed sleep. So it becomes the duty of his neighbour not to tune his TV volume at too high pitch. If we want to enjoy our rights, we should act in such a way that the rights of other are not trespassed. It can happen only if we take due account of our duties also. In short rights and duties are complementary things and not contradictory. The real ideal should be to do the duty without bothering about the rights. This will give peace to our mind and the life will be free from tension.
